First Time Swimming!

We took the little munchkin swimming for the first time this weekend!!!

Our condo has a pool that I've been wanting to try her out in, but coincidentally, we had a family weekend get-away at Bayview Beach Resort, Penang... So, we decided to make it happen here, today :)

Lttle Keira loves bath time, so we had a good feeling she would feel right at home in a pool. And she did!!!

We dressed her in the sexy, yellow 'Snow White' swimsuit (which daddy bought from the U.S. during a recent work trip), put some head gear and lots and lots of baby sunscreen... and voila, she was ready to hit the baby pool.

She kicked and spun like a pro in her baby float as soon as she was in the water. At 5 months+, she shows no fear... A natural in the water! I guess she takes after mommy in that area. Daddy does not know how to swim. *snap*

We even took a video as 'memorabilia' of her first swim experience... Watch this unedited version (also uploaded on YouTube here):

Oh yes, she had two swim sessions today, one in the morning, and the other in the afternoon. After all, she has two baby floats which mommy and Grandma (my MIL) bought separately. We needed to test and see which works better. The orange one, which mommy bought from Ogival, seems to be a much more secure first baby float as it was more stable and supportive. Then again, the decision could just be due to my own bias *wink* :)

Whatever the case, innocent little Keira does not care much tor the 'safety aspect' of it. She's just happy to be in the water so that she is free to roam about on her own two feet, regardless of the color of the float.

Little Miss von Trapp Lee

For years, Kevin and I joked about it... That we (or rather I *coughs*) would like to have seven children. Oh yes - "von Trapp" family singers of my very own... Kevin as "The Captain" and me as "Maria", of course *wink*

We'll start off with a baby girl, who will be our little "Liesl", then a boy "Frederick", then another girl "Louisa", followed by a boy "Kurt" and then another girl "Brigitta" and lastly twin girls who would represent "Martha" and sweet little "Gretel".

How these seven children are suppose to pan out (especially only having started with our first at 35 years of age), I have not quite figured out the reality of it but it seems very possible in my mind (hah ~ more like in my dreams!).

Ergo, I guess it's safe to say that we're 1/7th on the way to achieving this dream with the arrival of baby Keira. More importantly, at 3 months old, our little munchkin has already started practicing for her musical debut by coo-ing to Liesl's part in 16 Going on 17...

Check her out in this 15sec animated video (initially distributed among close friends and family via WhatsApp):

Due to popular demand, I'm availing the original 'unedited' video taken of Keira at 3 months old here: http://youtu.be/Kl15O1zSdWU

Isn't she just awesome??!!??

Mirror, Mirror!!!

Baby Keira Eliza just LOVES looking in the mirror. It's like she has her very own love affair (with herself) when she admires, laughs and babble endlessly at her own reflection.

And why shouldn't she??? She can't help it if she is B-E-A-U-tiful!

She somehow finds it super entertaining and needs to have her mirror play a few times a day. She gets even more super excited when I point to her in her reflection and say:

"Who's that pretty little girl in the mirror? Is that my Keira darling?
Is that my little princess Keira Eliza Lee... mommy's little munchkin."

I say this while I hold her hand and press her hand against her chest, so as to keep reminding her that she is "Keira". As if she doesn't realize it already... She's very advanced for her own age; she's 2 months+ and she already knows and responds to her name (she's known since from when she was inside the womb).

Cukur Jambul Ceremony for Keira

Earlier this morning, we held a cukur jambul ceremony for our little one-month-old dumpling at our family home. It was a small affair in attendance of immediate family only.

For those not familiar with the term, cukur jambul is kinda like the baby's first official haircut, done in accordance with our Malay tradition. Some snip off a few locks, while others call for the baby's hair to be completely shaved. Both are acceptable of course, but for Kevin and I, we agreed to the latter.

The ceremony started with prayers...

Followed by feeding of "something sweet" and trimming of a lock of hair as syarat...

Our family members also had their chance to participate...

Then it's photo time with Keira, before her flock of hair gets shaved off...

And now it's time, to say goodbye, to the flock of Keira's hair... Off with her hair!

At the halfway mark... Now, let's go all the way - shave it all off!

And it's done!

It's mandi bunga (flower bath) time, to get her refreshed!

And of course we had the nasi kunyit (sticky rice) ready for makan time!
